On the 2nd June, the Acting Premier, Mr. James Merlino, announced an extension to the 7-day circuit-breaker lockdown. Northside Christian College published a Medium-Term Remote Learning Guide in response to this announcement. The Medium-Term Remote Learning Guide provides our College community with guidance about the delivery of remote learning between Friday 4th June and Thursday 10th June 2021. Mr Damian Higgins, College Principal, shared a letter with the College community in response to the extended lockdown.
Mr. Merlino noted that Year 11 and 12 students return to school on Friday, 4th June 2021. Arrangements for Year 11 and 12 classes until the 10th June 2021 are outlined in the Medium-Term Remote Learning Guide.
The Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA) have advised schools on the 2nd June that the 2021 General Achievement Test (GAT) scheduled for Wednesday 9th June 2021 will be rescheduled to a date to be determined. The VCAA shared, "We expect this to be in coming weeks." The VCAA is currently considering the most appropriate date for the rescheduled 2021 GAT, and we will keep schools updated. Rescheduling the GAT will support schools to focus on completing coursework and school-based assessments on return to classrooms. Unit 3/4 students are advised that classes will continue on Wednesday 9th June in response to the GAT being rescheduled.
The announcement of an extended lockdown may have been disappointing news for many students, staff, and parents. As we prepare ourselves mentally for the week ahead, may we look to the Lord for strength. The Bible reminds us,
