The Northside Christian College school community congratulates all students in the Year 12 class of 2020. We commend our students for their perseverance and resiliency as they navigated online learning and a broad range of challenges associated with completing their final year of schooling during a pandemic. We were grateful to have already had a culture of flipped online teaching and the use of online lessons, which assisted with our transitions in and out of remote learning.
May we acknowledge and thank our parents and dedicated teaching and support staff for their efforts supporting our students throughout their learning journey. At Northside Christian College, our staff, parents and students are committed to assisting each student to achieve their personal best. Furthermore, we acknowledge that we are preparing our students for a diverse range of pathways reflective of the passions, gifts and talents God has blessed them with. Careers and pathway planning is an important and ongoing part of our Senior School program at the College.
The Year 12 VCE Class of 2020 achieved some excellent academic results. We are pleased to advise that our Dux for this year is Rachel Shemara Karunaratne (pictured below) who achieved an ATAR score of 99.45. At the recent Year 12 Graduation Ceremony, Shemara received Subject Awards for Chemistry, English, Mathematical Methods and Physics. In 2019, she received the Subject Award for Biology and Further Mathematics. Shemara has completed all of her Prep to Year 12 studies at Northside. We congratulate Shemara on her outstanding results.
One student, Amelia Ryan, received a perfect study score of 50 for her efforts in Psychology. We congratulate Amelia on her amazing study score.
We congratulate the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) students at the College on their achievements across a broad range of subjects.
During 2020, two students also studied first-year university subjects as part of their Year 12 studies.
We also congratulate the students who successfully completed their Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL) studies.
We acknowledge the many students who completed Vocational Education and Training (VET) courses during 2020. The College is grateful to be part of the Northern Melbourne VET Cluster, which provides opportunities for students to complete a wide range of VET courses during their Senior School years. A number of our students studied a VET course as part of their VCE or VCAL studies.
Please continue to pray for the class of 2020 as they prepare for a broad range of post-school pathways.
We congratulate all students from our Year 12 class of 2020 and wish them all the very best for their future endeavours.
