Northside Christian College joined with the Year 12 Class of 2020 to celebrate their graduation, in a way that was both unique and appropriate for this ‘unprecedented’ year. Students graduated in the VCE Study Room at the College, with an online Zoom audience of parents, carers, relatives, and students and staff. The Graduation Ceremony provided an opportunity to acknowledge the accomplishments of our graduating students. The class of 2020 are commended on their resiliency during a challenging year.
One of the College Vice Captains, Dimitra Karkaloutsos, opened the ceremony with a Bible verse and prayer. This provided an opportunity to give thanks to God for His protection and the chance to learn more about Him while studying at Northside.
Each student was presented to the audience by a staff member who had pre-recorded some special words of encouragement. This provided a rich opportunity to reflect on the gifts and talents of each of our students and to honour their contribution to our College Community.
In a pre-recorded address, the 2020 College Captain, Shemara Karunaratne, acknowledged and thanked staff and parents for their support throughout the year. In a word of encouragement for the students in Prep to Year 11, Shemara highlighted how much God loves each one of us and has blessed us with unique gifts and talents.
Mr Higgins presented several perpetual awards at this ceremony, recognising the persistent endeavour, diligence, and achievement of excellence of this cohort of students. The awards celebrated academic, sporting, leadership, and creative achievements as well as Christian character.
Thank you to the many staff who supported this event, including the planning committee of Mrs Lenna Waters and Mrs Maryann Stewart. Mr Jared Stocks, Mr Chris Gatt, Mr James Eynaud and Mrs Angela Eynaud also made significant contributions towards the running of this special event.
We congratulate the Class of 2020 on their graduation from Northside Christian College!
