The Victorian Government announced a 7-day state-wide "circuit-breaker lockdown" on the 27th May 2021 in response to the growing number of COVID cases in Melbourne during the past week. The Government acknowledged that Victoria is dealing with a highly infectious strain of COVID-19. The lockdown will commence at 11:59 pm this evening.
Mr. Damian Higgins, College Principal, shared a letter with the College community in response to this lockdown announcement.
The College has prepared a Short-Term Remote Learning Guide to support the continuity of learning at this time.
During the past two days, we have listened to Government announcements about positive coronavirus cases detected in the north of Melbourne. This news may cause many of us concern and prompt thoughts about the events of 2020 and extended periods in lock-down. This season in our lives can seem quite confusing at times and generate a range of different feelings. The Bible encourages us to lean on God and trust in Him, which can be challenging in a fast-paced world with almost instantaneous access to news headlines. I pray we can continue to find encouragement in God’s Word during this season.
These verses are a constant reminder to turn to God during all circumstances. Sometimes this can feel counter-initiative as it can feel natural to want to fix things ourselves. However, let us rely on God during this time of confusion and uncertainty.
The verses in Philippians 4:6-7 remind us that we can find God’s peace at this time through “prayer and petition.”
I pray that our community can continue to find comfort and peace at this time through trusting in the Lord through prayer and petition. Please be encouraged to know that our staff are praying for our students, families, and community.
