Planting Trees for The Queen’s Jubilee Program

Christian LifeNewsPrimary SchoolSecondary SchoolVCE

Representatives from year levels across Northside Christian College gathered this morning to commemorate Her Majesty the Queen’s Jubilee and to give thanks for the new trees in our central courtyard.

The special assembly began with an acknowledgment of the traditional stewards of the land on which Northside Christian College resides.

As a community, we are grateful for an opportunity to recognise the Queen’s life of Love, Faith, and Hope demonstrated through incredible service over 70 years. Mr Michael Bond, College Principal, highlighted that the Queen’s faith was an important part of her life and something she spoke about regularly.

Northside Christian College received funding for this tree planting project from the Australian Government’s Planting Trees for The Queen’s Jubilee Program. The College expressed gratitude to the Hon. Ged Kearney MP, Assistant Minister for Health and Aged Care, and the Australian Government for their financial support for this project.

Mr Bond also acknowledged and thanked the College’s Property Manager, Mr Stephen Nelson, for his support with the planning and planting of the trees. The College also recognised Mr Darren Griffiths and Mr Cameron McInnes for their assistance with this project.

The objective of the Planting Trees for The Queen’s Jubilee Program was to mark the occasion of the Queen’s Jubilee through community tree planting events across Australia. The program is also intended to commemorate the Queen’s Jubilee, create a legacy of tree plantings across the nation, and increase the area of tree canopy in our communities.

The addition of these trees provides us with an opportunity to reflect on our theme verse for 2022.

Colossians 2:6-7 encourages us:
So then,
just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord,
continue to live your lives in him,
rooted and built up in him,
strengthened in the faith as you were taught,
and overflowing with thankfulness.

May these trees remind us to remain rooted in Christ to support us to flourish as a College community.
